Good Morning, and welcome to our second weekly edition of The Reset, powered by The She-Suite!
This past week has been a whirlwind, as I returned from four days of emceeing the SHRM Annual Conference in Vegas this past Sunday night. My time there was very encouraging, and I had the honor of sharing the stage with so many people, from Olympian Michael Phelps, to the Chipotle power team of Brian Niccol, CEO and Marissa Andrada, Chief Diversity, Inclusion and People Officer.
After having time to reflect post-conference, a big takeaway that I had is that while the Pandemic has certainly changed our way of life, it seems to have also stirred up a renewed passion for taking care of our people. Almost everyone who I spoke with seemed to be charged with excitement around better supporting their employees from a health and wellbeing standpoint. The bottom line is, personal health and wellbeing can no longer be overlooked within the workplace, and should become engrained and supported within company culture.
I know this time of year can be hectic. I hope that today, you’re able to stop and identify one or two positives that have come out of our pandemic shift. While it has been challenging, there is always a silver lining, even if it feels small.
Believing in you,
Melissa Dawn Simkins CEO, Velvet Suite |

to Win Your Week Traveling this fall? Take some time to prepare beforehand. You’ll feel better, and more prepared to face your days on the road. - Pack the food or snacks that you would normally eat. Protein powders, bars, vitamins, tuna, tea packets, you name it; it’s great to have it all on hand.
- Pack your water bottle and prioritize staying hydrated; dehydration is very common while traveling.
- If you’re a big smoothie fan like me, then finding healthy smoothies on the road can be tricky. If you have a mini blender, like a NutriBullet or Baby Bullet - pack it! Add ice and some water with your smoothie packets, and you have instant smoothies on-the-go.
