On Sisterhood

What does the word sisterhood mean to you?

sis·ter·hood

/ˈsistərˌho͝od/

noun

  1. an association, society, or community of women linked by a common interest, religion, or trade.

At the She-Suite, we work hard to create a sense of sisterhood across our community. And while we continue to grow and expand in various ways, the initiation of our sisterhood first took roots with our Brand Leadership Institute Community.

Today, we want to take a moment to celebrate the sisterhood and bonds that we have seen flourish over the past several years through the BLI.

Celebrating BLI Growth

Since our inaugural cohort in 2015, we’ve now extended the BLI community to nearly 500 members and counting.

This is a huge milestone, not just for our She-Suite team… but for our BLI Alumni as well. Our growing network of alumni fiercely support each other, and continue to come back to support new cohorts, sharing their wisdom and lessons learned along the way.

To quote a recent BLI participant…

I’m not sure how many of you all have started Course 3 yet but I finished watching one of Melissa’s videos that spoke to ”why women stay”. She talks about how many organizations focus on female retention and not as much on what keeps them there… and it was so eye-opening for me! …it brings together the intersectionality between us wanting to feel ”entrepreneurial” and create new solutions, to old problems which resonated with me. Mentor programs and allyship are great starts, but there’s something about a sisterhood, that connectivity that allows us to empower one another on a whole other level!

In a time when many teams, meetings and events continue to be remote, it’s arguably more important than ever to make sure that women everywhere feel that they have a community… a network… or a sisterhood that has their back. We believe that the BLI offers this, and are so inspired by the sisterhood that we have seen flourish throughout the participants and alumni the past several years.

Here’s to all of our BLI Alumni, future graduates, and a strong and lasting sisterhood!
